Last weekend my family and I spent two fantastic days at a charming little town on the California coast. Before hitting the beach I donned this white denim skirt and stripe T-shirt. Although I know I look pretty casual in these photos, I was in fact incredibly dressed up next to everyone else. The local uniform consisted of flip-flops, tie-dye tops and cut-off jean shorts.
I find it very interesting how different places all have their own looks, and an outfit that would have looked quite casual in Los Angeles seemed so dressed up just a few miles away, but that’s one of the challenges of packing for a trip isn’t it? There’s no way to know what people are going to be wearing where you’re going, so have faith in your own personal style, check the weather, and pack with confidence!
Credits: All photos by Hugo Fonseca. I don’t remember where I purchased the hat but the t-shirt is from Target and the skirt is from J-Crew. The Trench is of unknown origin as the previous owner removed the label, but I purchased it at Ampersand, my new favorite store!

I really love your style…it has a vintage flair. on vacations I usually wear my bikini+ a cover up when I’m at the beach and for the evenings either summer dresses or shorts+a top.

Sun-dresses are always good, and I wish I had brought one with me. It had been cold all week and I was worried I was going to freeze which is why I brought separates, but then next trip I’ll show off some of my cotton dresses.

This may be one of my favourites, as I love black and white photography. #3 &4 are amazing. Perhaps a few big magazines could have a look at your images for pointers, haha! Enjoy your weekend.

It’s so sunny here that I feel like my sunblock needs help in the summer so I have quite a few hats. The stripe one is nice because I can drive in it without it hitting the window and then I can leave the sunroof open – always a plus!

Lovely Heather and good choice to have the photos in black and white. That always looks so nice with stripes. Not sure yet what I’ll bring to Europe this summer. I will be there for 5 weeks in several different countries, so it’s always really hard to pack for that….

I’m not quite ready for beach action yet, but when I am it’ll be long maxi chiffon dresses in colourful prints or kaftans… oh and the occasional pair of denim cutoffs!
