How to Wear Red Jeans in the Summer

The colored denim trend is huge these days. Is anyone immune to it?  Not I. A few months ago it was all about red jeans.  Since then denim in every color of the rainbow has found its way to retail. With all the turquoise and pink out there right now red feels very “last season” to me. It’s sad how quickly some fads come and go. Regardless I still adore these cranberry colored jeans from J Brand and feel they would look just as good in the warm summer months as they did in chilly December. So what if it’s not a cutting edge trend! They still look great. So I pulled them out of the closet the other day and wondered what I could throw on to create a casual, summer outfit.

My father gave me this beautiful linen shirt a few months ago.  It was a bit too large on him. If I roll the sleeves up, a lot, it fits me in a sort of oversized way. “Perfect!” I thought.

Are you wearing red jeans this summer? How are you wearing them?

I don’t think these jeans look at all last season on you! Great casual summer look!

No red jeans here— but not because I don’t like them- just haven’t found the right pair!

I hope the trend continues into the fall, and I think it will. I’d love to see how you would style a pair. You look so cute in jeans!

I love my red jeans! I have worn them many different ways…in fact, I am worried, I have worn them too much. I guess my favorite is with a B & W geometric design blouse and a white jacket and black flats. I love your shirt here…it is a great look! I like the pants so much, I will probably keep wearing them even past when colored denim goes away.

I don’t think it’s possible to wear something too much – it just means you made a great decision while shopping! I usually wear my red jeans with a black or white top but I’m trying to experiment with some other options. If something works you’ll see it here.

Ah, you look so summer cool.
I obtained a linen shirt in March and I want more! They are perfect for hot weather coverage without being too stifling.
I have some red jeans too – retro Cross Colors 80s BAGGY ones! Hahahaha. They need some repairs, so they’re out of commission. I’m not one to wear jeans much in the summer. Too constricting (too many cupcakes).

Pretty soon it’ll be too warm to wear tight or baggy jeans. Well all be sweltering in out sundresses, but until then I’m going to enjoy a bit of layering.

What a great causal outfit. I like the man’s oversize shirt. Plus, it is from your father which makes it even better. It actually has motivated me to get out and date so I can wear my guys shirt. That or make a stop at the nearest men’s store. HA!!
No red jeans, but like I said before I really don’t have many jeans. I do want a pair of colored jeans though. Visiting a different blog I saw orange ones. Maybe I’ll add two colored jeans to my wardrobe.

I’d love to see how you like a pair of colored jeans. They’re a lot of fun! And they go with high heels too.

I used to own a pair of red shorts actually (well more like bermudas since they were knee high) and I used to wear them with white tops, patterned tops that had white as the base color, but included red, pink or orange as well. Nowadays I’ve given these shorts away, but I do own some pink ones that I frequently wear!

I don’t have any pink (yet) but I do like the look a lot, and I do love red and pink together.

You look really cute in this Heather and I love the red lip :) I remember last year I put a pair of red jeans in a collage and so many people commented how they could never see themselves wearing that–here we are, already over red and into a rainbow of hues. Ha, got to love fashion!

Sometimes it takes a while to get used to a new look. Red is still kind of hard for a lot of people I think because it’s so bright and obvious. You’re going to be noticed in red pants. Glad you like my look!

I love your red plaid shirt. I live in plaid when I am with the chickens! That last shot is fabulous! :-)

Great Jeans Heather! Also loving that shirt and your bag. I bought some in green but will only bring my red cotton pants to Europe.

    • Heather Fonseca July 2, 2012 at 9:27 am #

I brought theses jeans on a trip and the red was really wearable. I think you’ll like having your red pants with you in Europe.

As always gorgeous photos. I love the jeans, they fit perfect and the colour is spot on. I wouldn’t say that they were dated at all. The trend for summer is bold colours so these fit right in there. I love how you worked it with your father’s shirt as well, it really looks great as an overall outfit. I think you could have also opted for a bold contrasting colour. That would have worked nicely too.

I have a pair of not bright red, but berry/wine coloured jeans which I love pairing with black as a statement piece.

Thanks so much Arash. J brand does have a great fit. They’re tight in all the right places. I’m going to try the jeans with a blue shirt too, I just need to borrow another of my dads shirts!

Love this casual look on you but the red jeans add a little… ‘je ne sais quoi’ – you look amazing as always Heather – are you wearing a red Revlon number (lips)? Love that shade!

Also enjoying all the other posts and what/where you’ve been, Old Town Pasedena looks lovely…

    Have a fantastic July!

I’m glad you like my quasi-lifestyle posts. They’re fun to write and even more fun to attend! I’m hoping to do a lot more. That lipstick is actually Rimmel #12 and you’re the second person to comment on it. I’m working on a new lipstick post which will feature it as well as a few other corals.

I must admit I did and do love the coloured denim trend, but did not have have a chance to acquire much of it at all. I love your red denim look! So casual, but very polished, even with the nice plaid shirting. You can really feel summer through these photos! :)

    • Heather Fonseca July 8, 2012 at 11:34 am #

Thank you so much! I think the colored denim trend will be around for a while, maybe it will even become a classic, so we have plenty of time to add more to our wardrobes.
