After spending a week camping on the beach I can’t get the fun of days spent in the sun and surf out of my mind, so I hope you will indulge my current obsession with all things swim. The following is a guest post from one of my sponsors. The article is about the flattering and sexy one-piece swimsuit, or maillot. I wish I had more of these practical, retro-inspired beauties. I’ve included photos of some of my favorite suits from their website. Enjoy!
Lingerie-like maillot
If you’re after a gorgeous girlie look this summer when you hit the pool, forget bikinis and think elegant, lingerie inspired maillots – these one-piece swimsuits are one of this summer’s prettiest, most feminine looks. Swimwear for women has never been this sexy.
From a practical perspective, lingerie-styled maillots are spot on in harmonising the balance between support and daintiness – the prints usually take the form of embellished lace, and delicate florals, and yet the support from the under-wired cups are perfect for those of us with fuller busts.
What makes the maillot so gorgeous? We hear you ask… it’s difficult to pickone
defining characteristic, but the attractive detail they are celebrated for is definitely up there. For example, many have satin tapes which accentuate the intricate seaming along the bodice – it gives the term sultry a whole new, sexy sugar coating!
Another feature that just can’t be ignored are the demi-cut necklines and thin straps which give this swimsuit its undeniable association with lingerie – it’s a gorgeous and enticing element that will ensure you look fabulous on your holiday this summer.
The great thing about this swimwear style is its versatility – it can be worn by women of all shapes and sizes. Its corsetry fit will give girls with athletic figures enviable curves, and will also do wonders for the ladies among us who perhaps consider their tum as a problem area. The great thing about the lingerie-style maillot is that it flatters everyone. It will undoubtedly suit the fair-skinned among us because of the soft designs found on many, and at the same time neutral colours look great on those of us with darker, tanned skin. Lingerie-inspired maillots can also be bought in bold, striking colours such as black.
For a classic lingerie-inspired maillot look, hunt out a vintage styled corset bodice. For the print think pastel florals, creams and lace. Nudes and sheer fabric will enhance the lingerie effect, so opt for these. To place this swimsuit as part of an outfit, team with gladiator sandals, an oversized denim shirt and a wide-brimmed hat for an ultimately effortless sexy vibe.

Interesting post, I know you’ve been discussing swimwear previously. I like the items in the post and it is quite nice to feature swimwear that is a bit more flexible; meaning it will work for most body shapes. Often the natural ‘go to’ item for swimwear is the bikini but this has highlighted that it doesn’t always have to be that way. Great post.
