Blogs in Style: The Summer Vacation Edition

Last year my family and I spent three weeks road tripping up the highway to Oregon. This summer, by contrast, I have not gone far. My vacations included a week in San Francisco and a few days camping on the beach in Carpinteria, but I would love to explore some more exotic locales.  My favorite blogs have been helping to fuel my fantasies. One day I’ll go, but today I’ll dream.

  1. The Frump Factor addresses packing for an active vacation in Outfitting for Oregon  while 40 Plus Style gets ready for a trip to Europe in How to Pack for a Long Holiday. End result? Packing well is not easy but success is possible, especially if you take the time to pack carefully. Shopping for clothes while on vacation helps too.
  2. In case I ever decide that packing for a trip requires black, black and some tan I will check this post to remind myself that vacation clothing need not be dull, especially if your destination is Greece.
  3. As a teenager I explored Italy with my mother and there will always be a place in my heart for this beautiful country and its delightful people. La Dolce Vita by A Brit Greek brings it all back.
  4. A beautiful young French woman goes somewhere fabulous on the Atlantic in a boat.  She takes pictures. We wish we were there too.
  5. Taking a long airplane ride? Not looking forward to how your skin will look afterward?  Neither was the writer of Drivol about Frivol, so she created the ultimate mini-sets to keep her skin in tip-top shape.
  6. Evocative images of European vacation fantasies via Chic n Cheap Living.
  7. Back in May The Glamourai traveled to Marrakech with her girlfriend. She returned with great stuff and some of the most beautiful travel photos I’ve ever seen. See her daily diaries from Morocco and be inspired: day one, day two and day three.
  8. I want to see turtles being released into the wild on a beach in Hawaii, don’t you?
  9. If ever I have REAL money, you know, the kind that allows one to do something more glamorous than camp out or stay at a Best Western, I’ll want to enjoy my holiday at one of these places.
  10. Back to packing for all these fabulous destinations. Here are some more tips and a few fab travel sized goodies to get you through the stress of all that traveling.

Where are you dreaming about going this summer?

Ah, this looks like a juicy list of links! Can’t wait to dive in!

I’m in the midst of finding my Dream Suitcase. I leave next week for a 18-day East Coast trip that will include Smithereens gigs, running amok in NYC, Martha’s Vineyard with the family, and rewarding myself with visits with friends in RI, MA + NY. Can’t wait!

I have a 2nd trip in the queue for Oct, to an art retreat in MD. I’m going Greyhound to that!!!! Yes, I’m crazy. “They have WiFi”

Oh a dream suitcase sounds dreamy! I love luggage, but have little reason to invest in anything good. I hope you share your final purchase with use.

I found one online. After 2 days of not hearing from them, I called – nervous I wouldn’t get it in time. Back ordered! Oh noooooo! Why didn’t they tell me???? Switched it out to one in stock. It’d better get here…

Why do I always do these things at the last minute?

There’ll be a post on it next week, after I “road” test it. IF it gets here…

I think the last minute part happens because we’re always so busy, so things just get pushed back, and pushed back. I know that’s how it is for me! Which is why I’m usually at Target the day before I leave getting things for the trip.

Nice locations! This summer we just went to the Carribean, but for me Morroco and Italy are two places that I really want to visit soon!

I would love to go to Italy too! But the Caribbean sounds pretty fab as well.
