Early Fall Makeup Favorites

I’m having a love affair with olive green this month. No, I’m not sure why either. It probably has something to do with the camouflage military jackets all the cute girls are wearing for the street style photographers.  Bronze goes with olive green like leopard print and denim, or pumpkin pie and whipped cream.  Sparkly olive green, dark glittery orange, and gold harmonize beautifully. These are the shades I covet at the moment. I’m thankful that makeup companies are so sensitive to my color moods because they make it quite easy for me to indulge in these fall makeup obsessions without breaking the bank.

Fall Makeup and Nail Polish

Maybelline Eyestudio Eye Ehadow Quad in Smokey Cinnamon, seen at the center top of the photo above, is a brand new find at the drugstore. The color is a limited edition for fall 2012, so if you like it you should go buy it right now. The colors as lovely in the pan as they are on the eyes. Here is a review of the eye shadow with photos. I find all the colors easy to work with, highly pigmented and long lasting. My only complaint is that they are very sparkly so I only wear them in the evening.

Maybelline Eyestudio Eye Ehadow Quad in Olive Martini is on the lower right of the photo. The colors are very intense and dramatic. The dark green is actually brown, and the bronze goes on much darker than it looks. Wear all four colors together to create a two-toned chameleon effect. For more photos and swatches see this review.

As soon as I laid eyes on Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Abstract Orange #026 I knew I had to have it. How often do you see dark glittery orange lipstick? Not often enough. I don’t look very good in brown lipstick so this is as close as I get to spice. It’s a delicious dark paprika.

OPI Nail Lacquer in Brisbane Bronze is a dark, intense, shimmery bronze. I have had this on my toes most of September.

After many months of lusting after Butter London 3 Free Nail Lacquer in Wallis, I finally broke down and purchased a bottle. It’s expensive but oh, the color. It’s so worth it. I suppose it’s a dark gold, but it looks like glittery olive green to me.

And finally, as I showed you in the post Autumn in Los Angeles, I just adore Revlon Colorstay Nail Enamel in Fall Mood. Here it is again.

Unfortunately the two makeup quads I wrote about are no longer available, but Maybelline sells similar colors in their permanent line as well. Please note that the widget below contains affiliate links. If you click on an image I might receive a small commission. Thank you for your support!

Thank you Marie-Eve. It’s pretty fabulous. So far I haven’t seen anything quite like Butter London’s Wallis.

Lovely fall colours Heather. I always wonder how big your collection of makeup is when I see your beauty posts…

Like the clothes in my closet the makeup drawer is full. I have two. One for makeup and one for hair do-dads and nail polish. My collection is big, yes, but I am always editing, and I’m pretty ruthless. If I don’t like something I don’t keep it!

Love your gorgeous autumn color palette–so so pretty! I am into the shimmery golds and caramels and will probably stick with that until some cooler weather demands deeper colors.

Me too Mary Jo. I’m looking forward to burgundy lipstick and nail polish, but with the temperatures where they’ve been I can’t stand the thought of anything too dark. On the other hand it seems like it’s finally cooling off so maybe I’ll be wearing the dark colors soon!

    Hey dear,

I`m loving all the hues above – metallic fall colours ROCK! I`m sure they`ll all look great on you and everybody from dark blonde to black hair but pale light blondes with blue eyes, like me, can`t wear them 🙁 What a shame.

I love the Butter nailpolish though and would wear it!

The beauty of nail polish is that anyone can really wear any color. It’s nail polish! It’s not meant to be serious. Anyway, I’m surprised you can’t wear any metallics on your eyes. Gold looks good on pretty much everyone. The beauty of inexpensive eye shadow is you can try it out to see if it’s you without spending too much money.

Oooh! I feel like I need that Wallis color by Butter London. A fantastic shade for fall. Thanks for making my nail polish collection grow, as if it needed to. 🙂

I love the colors in the Spoiled line of nail polish but I’ve yet to try it out. The price is unbeatable though! Let me know how it goes with your new polish.
