An armful of big, wide, bangles has always been one of my favorite jewelry statements. On the other hand a bunch of bracelets clanking on my arms is just irritating, so even though I love the bold look I haven’t always indulged in it. Then last year started to notice the multiple bracelet trend known of as the “arm party”. It occurred to me that if there was ever a time to enjoy wearing a few wide bangles on one arm now was the time. I began looking around to augment my collection. Unfortunately, although it’s easy to locate skinny bangles the wide ones are pretty hard to find.
So when Fragments.com contacted me to look through their online catalog of unique designer jewelry I thought about big bangles, and wondered if any of their designers were thinking about them too. It seems that Ashley Pittman, who works with artisans in Kenya to create her elegant ethnic-inspired line of jewelry, also likes bangles, both big and small. She offers a number of slim bangles, pictured above, as well the wide bangles I so adore. Ashley Pittman’s jewelry is made of horn and bronze, and she donates 10% of her profits to fund a rural health center and primary school in Kenya.
How gorgeous are these big bangles?
Really gorgeous, I think.

Do you wear a lot of bracelets? What do you think of these big bangles. Do you have a favorite?

I don’t wear big bangles. Actually not many bracelets at all. I have a few but always forget to wear them. I like how it looks on other people but it feels too cluttered for me.
It took a while for me to go from liking the look from afar to start piling the bangles on. Now I love it, but it didn’t happen overnight.
I love a good arm party—- and while admittedly it can be slightly annoying, I do think it is such a great way to make a chic statement.
These are some great options!

These are very pretty. I’m all about statement pieces, especially big necklaces and bangles. I don’t know why, but big statement bangles are perfect accessories.

They are great! I’m glad you agree.
All these bangles are gorgeous. I love wood and metal ones but most of the time I stick to my classic Harmes bangles. Timeless. Sometimes I wear two or three at the same time with different patterns. My way to customize them.
Cheers,
Anne
I would love some Hermes bangles! I love their scarves too.
I meant Hermès of course…

I love them on other people but I just can’t seem to pull it off. I’m pretty minimalistic when it comes to jewelry. Maybe I’m just lazy….

On the weekdays I’m pretty minimal too, I just think it’s fun to pile it on one the weekends!
I own a two wide bangles I purchased in Puerto Rico and I never wear them. Actually, I hardly ever as in never wear bracelets/bangles much. The funny thing is, I do love the layered style of arm wear.
I find I have to remember to wear my bangles. I put them out on my desk sometimes to refresh my memory, and of course having a personal style blog helps too!

Accessories are one of my favourite fashion elements. I do love bangles and these choices selected, especially love black and golden styles lately. Have a lovely weekend.

Ha. This post came up in the Twitter feed and I remember enjoying reading it back in Oct. I was mute in Oct — now I’m Gabby Anne.
In the 70s, my BFF Kim was known for her armful of silver bracelets and I was known for my many silver rings.
In the 80s, I wore tons of bracelets because that’s what one did in the 80s.
In the 90s, I had a favorite silver African knot style bracelet that I had to remove whenever I was on the computer. Same for my watch. Like you, I dislike the clanking.
I still can’t work with stuff on my wrists so the “Arm Parties” are saved for special events when I get all dolled up.
There is a constant “Finger Party” (that sounds obscene) on my left hand — nonstop since 1971!
Remember our “Arm Orgy” at the OTIS Fashion show last May? Hahahaha

I’m glad you’re gabby Anne again! I know it’s hard to be creative with all this social media stuff in the way, so I totally understand your occasional quiet moments. I probably need more quiet moments myself! Anyhoo, glad you liked the post. I haven’t been wearing many bracelets recently, maybe it’s the weather? Seems kind of silly to have a bunch of bangles hidden by a jacket’s long sleeves. It’s always a good look when the weather is warm though. (:
