Scarf. Jacket. Jeans.

What do I reach for when the weather is cool and breezy? A scarf, jacket and jeans keep me just warm enough. In this post I’m wearing a black leather biker jacket with a ruffled leopard print scarf, bright blue denim shirt and black jeans. They’re all new to my blog and my body, but not my wardrobe.

Fall shopping seems to start earlier every year. This July one of my favorite shopping emporiums, Nordstrom, hosted a pre-fall sale event that would have been fabulous had it not been 100 degrees outside. At the time I hadn’t gotten my fill of summer fun and really wasn’t ready for fall fashion at all, but it occurred to me that this wasn’t a very practical approach to shopping. Often by the time the weather has cooled off the fall clothes are all gone, replaced by Christmas gifts and holiday dresses. It seemed silly not to take advantage of the many coupons and sales events of the pre-fall shopping season to add some practical, cold weather basics to my wardrobe. So I did. Here are three items I found this summer. They’ve waited patiently in my closet for the weather to cool off. Now it has, and I’ve been living in them.

I love the way a scarf, jacket and jeans look together. I like it so much that I created a Pinterest board to explore the many ways this simple clothing combination can be worn. It can be very minimal, or completely wild depending upon the prints and shapes chosen by the wearer.

  • Leopard scarf from The Buffalo Exchange
  • Leather jacket from The Gap
  • Denim shirt from Zara
  • Black “coated” jeans from NYDJ
  • Boots by Kork-ease
  • Clutch from Nordstrom

Did you buy any great fall clothes in the summer sales? What do you think of wearing a scarf, jacket and jeans? Chic or boring?

I love the scarf. I’ve been looking for a decent leopard scarf for ages but had no luck yet. 🙁

Kiki like you I looked for a leopard scarf for ages but I just couldn’t find the right look to price ratio. I stumbled on this one at a local resale store and snatched it up. Glad you like it! It’s fun because it’s ruffled, so sort of has a mind of it’s own.

Thanks Anne! Do you know where I am? The LA river! It’s not the river I grew up with anymore. I’ll probably write more about it soon.

A leather jacket is a staple everyone should have. I always throw on my jacket and sometimes a scarf/snood when it’s chilly. Definitely chic, not boring.

Thanks Arash. I’m glad you like my new leather jacket. I LOVE it. In fact I almost can’t take it off. It’s been going over everything. In fact it’ll be featured again very soon!

    Very cool clutch!

Have you lost weight again? Your legs looks super skinny and the pants seem to have become too large…gosh, darling, you`re wasting away.

    Hugs, Jen

As usual Jen it’s just the lighting and the poses. Actually I think the jeans are a little too big on me. They should be tighter. Oh well, I’ll keep working on finding those perfect black skinny jeans!

Great idea for a Pinterest Board. I really like leather. It can give an edgy, yet still very stylish look to an outfit. It’s such a pity that the weather here does not allow me to wear it here, although I would be tempted a good leather skirt if I bumped into (an affordable) one.

It’s finally cooled down here and I pretty much live in the black leather jacket. I would be really bummed if I could never wear leather, but the tropics must have a lot going for them too!

Forgot to say that I really like your outfit, and how good of you to wear a clutch with it. Very chic!

It was a weekend outfit, hence the clutch. I learned my lesson about trying to carry a clutch around on a school day!

It’s such a great idea to shop off-season, but I always forget to!

Sign up for e-mail alerts. It helps, sometimes. Usually I just shop when I have time!
