This Christmas found me once again in the city by the bay. The sheer beauty of San Francisco never ceases to amaze me, but no matter how many times I visit I’m never, ever, prepared for the weather. My collection of Los Angeles-style cold weather clothing just doesn’t cut it. I reach for that sporty, warm, down-stuffed and quilted windbreaker that all the natives seem to be wearing and realize, oh, I don’t have one. Instead I have a collection of glamorous faux fur coats. Well, they’ll have to do!
The faux fur jacket I’m wearing in these photos is one of my favorites. I bought it last year when the style was super-trendy and even though the trend has waned I still love it. It’s so warm!
Do you see those little dots in the water behind me in the photo above? Those are surfers! I can’t imagine how cold it must have been in the water. They must have been having fun though, because none of them were giving up and leaving.
Wearing:
- Faux fur coat from Nordstrom (Mine has long since sold out, but I found a similar looking jacket here.)
- Cashmere scarf a gift from my mother
- Coach purse belonged to my grandmother (Here is a similar shape by the same company.)
- Gloves borrowed from my mother
- Denim pencil skirt from J Crew (It must have been popular, because J Crew still sells the same one.)
- Boots from Loehmanns by Lou (I bought these two years ago, but these Rag and Bone boots look very similar.)
Do you have a faux fur jacket?

You look so glamorous in this pics and they are taken in my favorite city. I love these.
Thanks Marla!
You look fabulous and warm! The colours are great.

Aw, thanks Bella!
Aren’t you cold around your bum? The jacket is every so lovely, but you are freezing below the jacket. Aren’t you? I would.

It’s cold in San Francisco, but it’s not THAT cold. OK, I was a little cold in the bum area, but not that bad. (:
Fabulous, as always, Heather. I think faux fur has become a staple, kind of like leopard print has. The photos are great. Hugo really does have talent.
Aw thanks Ariane!!!!
The sky is amazing in these photos! I love San Fran and it’s always cold! beautiful classy look! I have a faux fur stole.
Thanks Shanti. Glad you like the photos. I know it’s cold where you live. Do you not wear any faux fur there? Maybe it’s not warm enough?

Wow! Look how clear SF is in those photos – brrrrrrr.
Who cares if faux fur is trendy or not, it’s perennial! When the trend wanes, that’s the perfect time to pounce on the objects of desire at resale shops, department store sales, the outlet stores and places like Loehmann’s, TJ Maxx, etc.
I’m guilty of owning MANY faux fur coats (way too many for soCal)! Most of them were obtained at thrift stores.

Yeah, I don’t think I could hold back if I found one of these cuties at a thrift store.
Gorgeous photos. Great backdrop. I visited SF a decade ago and was stunned by its beauty.
Love your outfit. The jacket is adorbs. I have a white faux-fur coat that I often wear indoors just to run my hands up and down it. It’s so soft and fluffy.

Be careful wearing the faux fur jacket inside if you spend any time in the kitchen. The fur fibers can melt. I know this from personal experience. Sigh. But I’m glad you have one you like. They are so silky!

I don’t have a faux fur jacket, but I’ve always wanted one. I just haven’t found one yet that’s really ‘me’ you know? I love the vibrant colors in these photos!

Just keep looking Steph! I promise you the right one is out there somewhere, and they really do keep you warm. For some reason they’re perfect for L.A. in the winter. It took me a while and a lot of looking to find my perfect one. So keep looking!

You sure know how to blow us away with these shots don’t you? I love the 1st & last shot and loving the vividness of the pieces you’re wearing – looking gorgeous and perfect wrapped up for a chilly winter’s day!
I also own a faux fur jacket – it’s an old Miss sixty one I picked up in the sale but it has lasted me a decade +!
Have a happy weekend!

I don’t have a faux fur jacket. I haven’t been to San Francisco in so long! I think if I had to live in CA, that would be the place for me!

Thank you my dear! I do love that coat. (:
I just bought one of these Faux Fur Coats myself. I got a great deal at Burlington Coat Factory, so it was well within my budget (even if it doesn’t look like something I could afford). It’s so comfy and warm. I just love it.
Glad you like the look Erica.
