A Flirty Frock for Spring

A flirty frock - The Style ConfessionsI love dresses. They’re just so EASY. Put it on. Add some shoes and a purse. Voila! Instant outfit.

I was looking around for another printed sundress for the spring and summer months when Eshakti contacted me. They offered to send me something from their online catalog so I went over to their website and looked around. Mid-century shapes and styles greeted me. The figure-hugging frocks so fashionable in the late 1940’s through the early 1960’s look very good on my figure, so picked one out and they sent it to me. Here it is.A flirty frock - The Style Confessions

I was so excited when the package came in the mail that I put on the dress right away. The size 10, my usual dress size, fit perfectly. I twirled, wore it all day, and received a few compliments. This really is a pretty dress.

The rayon dress is fully lined in cotton and includes both a side zipper and a bit of elastic on the back of the waistband. Small tabs under the straps keep your bra from falling out, a nice touch. My only complaint is that the hem is irregular. (I think it might have been hanging in a warehouse for a while.)

I couldn’t agree more and I love dresses especially wrap dresses. I’d instantly wear this.
As soon as eShakti will eventually decide to ship internationally they will have a new customer!

I love that dress! That style is great for you and is generally flattering on lots of ladies. There’s nothing like a dress to make you feel “girly” and those shoes are fun and feminine as well. I’m going to have to take a look at Eshakti to see if anything catches my eye!

Heather, you look fabulous in this dress. I have been looking for a dress recently but haven’t found one yet. I did re-style two silk shift dresses which I’ve only worn a couple of times and are too big for me now. What I did was wear a top underneath them and pull them in with a black thick fabric belt. Worked wonders and gave them a new life.
I am going to Rome and Tuscany soon and will definitely be on the looking for a nice dress there.

Wow Aileen have an amazing time in Italy! I hope you find a great dress there. I’m sure there will be something.

You look the picture of spring, twirling at LACMA.
I’ve got a 40s rayon scarf in those same colors — maybe it needs to go live with you!

I have a bunch of strappy 50/60s sundresses in the sewing heap. My waist is currently too big for them. Boo.

I have a really great green cotton 1950’s vintage sundress that I bought from Bella. I’m hoping to wear it soon, but the weather just got cold so I’ll have to wait.

What a lovely dress. It makes you look sexy (in a good way) and femine. Gorgeous bag as well.

you look real nice in the get-up (dress, sandals, sunny, and purse). I wish I can wear wrap dresses because they flatter figuers. My girls are too small to fill up the front therefore the front panels always gap, no matter what size or brands I tried on.

Above being said, the background muted green color and the small orange red floral work so well for you. They are lovely colors and so on trend.

    • Heather Fonseca April 18, 2013 at 2:26 pm #

I’m sure there are styles you can wear that look awful on me. You can also try having a wrap dress altered to fit you better. Believe me, there are lots of dresses that don’t fit me correctly too!

    What a lovely dress!

I agree, wearing a dress is just so easy, whack on a pair of sandals or ballet pumps, a couple of accessories and you’re good to go 🙂

I’m glad you agree! Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment Helen.

You look fantastic. I agree that this mid century shapes look so good on so many womens figures- good to see that they are available in new dresses as well- not everyone can find a suitable vintage version.

    And the bag! LOVE.

Yes, the problem with vintage is that they’re often so small! It’s a great look though, and the Eshakti dresses are very flattering and nicely made too.
