My Street Style Video
An Unusual Silk Dress
In the video I wear a silk dress purchased a couple of years ago on a whim at a thrift store. It was cheap, maybe $10, and fit perfectly except the lining was too tight. At ten dollars plus tax an ill-fitting polyester lining was no big deal, especially because the dress itself was made of the softest, floatiest silk. So I bought it. Then I wore it. I loved the dress. The wrap front skirt is short in the back and creates a dramatic, unusual silhouette. But the too-tight poly lining rode up and was so uncomfortable that the dress almost went back to the thrift store as a donation. Instead I took it to the dry cleaners in the hopes of fixing the lining. They tried, and managed to make it worse. Disgusted I took a scissor to the polyester. Now I wear the dress with a slip underneath and it’s perfect: floaty, soft and somehow just a little edgy.
