Afternoon at the Museum: an Outfit Video

Afternoon at the museum: An Outfit VideoI’m back after a short hiatus with a new outfit video. My week has been hectic and stressful, so it was something of a surprise to watch the video my husband and I took this Sunday to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. I walk through the museum grounds posing for the camera, calm and serene as can be. I’m wearing one of my favorite frocks, but the real star is the beautiful sculpture, Urban Light, that welcomes visitors to the museum from Wilshire boulevard. Like my other outfit videos this one is about a minute long and set to music. I think it tells a bit of a story…

My Floral Print Wrap Dress

The dress I wear in the video might look familiar. Like my pink strapless dress this floral wrap is a favorite. On the blog I’ve worn it window shopping and for a day at the park, but in real life I wear it at least once a week and just about everywhere. In fact I wear it so much that I’ve looked for similar dresses to add to my closet, but unfortunately I haven’t found a wrap dress that’s quite this perfect. I usually accessorize it with my orange purse or sandals to go with the small flowers that decorate the jersey fabric, but on this day I chose black heels and my big black patent leather tote. I rather like the effect.

What do you wear for an afternoon at the museum? Do you have a favorite wrap dress?

Hi Heather, I really like this look. I have a dress that is a little similar to the one you are wearing and I’ve decided to go on the look out for some similar sandals (yours are gorgeous). I’d also like to get hold of a thick chain necklace like the one you are wearing. Where did you gets yours from if you don’t mind me asking.

Thanks Nicole. I love those sandals. Really I’ve been looking for more in that vein and I can’t find anything as good. It’s hard to find chic yet comfortable shoes. The chain necklace was another great find at a consignment store. It’s heavy brass. Maybe vintage. No brand tag unfortunately. I’ve been looking for one for years, literally! I just got lucky.

Lovely dress. Breath-takingly short at the back haha. Don’t worry, you can wear it, no problem. Fun video. Who is the man with the camera (nice touch)? Is that a stranger? Or your husband? By the way, have you moved back to tour house yet?

It is pretty short isn’t it? Funny because it never seems short until I see photos of it. No, my husband is always incognito! That’s just some guy.

I know about “not seeing things until you take a photo”. That is soooo true. Rachel Zoe (whom I don’t like but she is probably good at her job), said : if you want to walk out the door, don’t look in the mirror but take a photo. Often you will go back in and change. Hahaha so true for me.
And the dress is shorter at the back than the front, which is probably why you don’t notice it so much.

Hi Greetje, I didn’t realize the dress was shorter in the back. I think it might just be that I’m bigger in the back, LOL. I’m afraid if I start taking photos I’ll never leave the house.

    Was that a Mojito? 😉

Another good clip, you indeed looked serene and peaceful (music helps, too). The light and contrasting colors from the lampposts and dress are note-worthy. Did you cut your hair? I like this length on you. It makes you look more “up”.

Yep! That was a Mojito! LACMA has a great bar/restaurant. You can sit outside and sip drinks. Its pricy but nice. And yes, I cut my hair but kind of forgot to talk about it. I’m happy with the look too. Glad you like it!
