The Chic, Functional, Bandolier I-Phone Case

The chic and functional Bandolier I-Phone caseAs a general rule the words chic and functional don’t usually go together, but the two words describe the Bandolier I-Phone case perfectly. I first laid eyes on this innovative carrying case at this fashion show, where I had the pleasure to sit next to the lovely Audrey Wu. Everyone at the event had their phones at the ready to photograph the models as they walked by on the catwalk, but while the rest of us rifled through our bags to get our various electronic devices Audrey only had to pick hers up from where it lay around at her hip. “Brilliant!” I thought. “Where do I get one?” I asked. As it turns out Audrey does PR for the company that makes the cases, and was happy to give me a Bandolier to use and review on my blog. (Ah, the perks of blogging!) I’ve been wearing my phone ever since.

The Bandolier I-Phone Case

The chic and functional Bandolier I-Phone case

The Bandolier is a hard plastic phone case that attaches to a removable leather strap. Each case features two slots to accommodate credit cards, driver’s license and/or cash. The idea is to liberate the wearer from the necessity of carrying a handbag. Personally I still carry my bag with me for things like car keys, lipstick and other necessities, but the Bandolier does make it possible to go out purse-free if you so desire.

It’s a great idea, but how well does it work?  Check out the video to see this innovative I-Phone case in action.

My husband and I shot the video at and around LA City College. Music by Pipo Pegoraro. The song is Samambaia from the Album November Playlist.

A Little more about the Bandolier

Bandolier was launched in 2013 by partners Maggie Drake and Colleen Karis.

Maggie is a native of Seoul, South Korea and immigrated to the United States at age 9. Maggie’s background includes graphic and interior design as well as painting and fine art. Maggie recalls the moment of inspiration for Bandolier: “Colleen and I have travelled extensively with our families and whether we were on a ski lift, horseback, a hike or just shopping, we were constantly looking for a fashionable and functional way to carry our phones without the frustration of the frantic search through our bags. With that, Bandolier was born…. a chic phone case and cross body strap that creates an elegant luxury accessory which is practical and stylish.”

Colleen is a veteran of both the art world and the world of design. She is the founder and designer of Colleen Karis Designs, a collection of home décor for children carried in stores throughout the US, Canada and Europe. Her extensive travel throughout the world has instilled an innate sense of readiness reflected in Bandolier. Colleen’s vision for Bandolier is simple: “To show women that fashion can be functional without sacrificing elegance or expression. Bandolier serves a greater practical purpose than jewelry or other accessories, yet it can still make a bold and distinctive statement.”

Disclosure: I did not pay for the Bandolier, it was a gift, however I have not been compensated for creating or posting this review and there are no affiliate links embedded into the post.

In the video I wear my Bandolier I-Phone case with a new black silk blouse by Trouve, an arm full of bangles and my favorite red jeans that I also wore in the post British Red Skinny Jeans and Updating Red Jeans.

So what do you think of the Bandolier I-Phone Case? Would you wear one?

Years ago I was gifted a beaded case with strap for my mobile phone. Needless to say that I didn’t use it, because as you noted too I needed to carry keys with me as well. My case didn’t even allowed me to carry money at all!
The bandolier is a good idea when you don’t have to carry money and only have to care for the phone/money and cards!

Perfect for running errands or when you\’re going out at night and really don\’t need much other than a credit card. To answer your question as to whether I would use it? I might if I was running in to watch my kids in their after school activities and didn\’t need my whole purse, or was out with my husband getting a drink or something. But I\’m a packrat by nature, and feel more secure with my purse. I\’d have to break the habit of lugging everything with me – but it would be liberating!xo~kim

Honestly I normally use both a purse and the phone case, but I could see just taking out my phone is certain situations. I’d probably feel naked though! I’m so used to carrying a purse with me that I feel weird without one.

I won a similar case, but it is a faux gold chain which I think is a bit ostentatious.
It is great in the office though, when I need my phone with me all the time, but not my bag.
Yours is more professional than mine.

Having a phone case like this in the office is great. I use it a lot when I’m working. I’m glad you like mine! Y

Heather, I haven’t been here in a while but what a treat! Love the video and for sure, I would not only wear that iPhone case, but I actually need one. I am a phone loser. :-) xo

Hi Gabriala! So great to see you again. I’m constantly misplacing my phone, so this is really a great little invention for me. I wear it around the house!

Personally i think the Bandolier I-Phone case for women is about as cheesy as when you used to see men with mobile phones attached to there belt’s but that’s my opinion.

    • Heather Fonseca November 7, 2013 at 8:57 am #

LOL! I remember those. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts Craig.

    What a great idea!

It’s a brilliant idea but I unfortunately have a tendency to drop my iPhone, so it would be a no-go for me. I have a super protective case and it has saved me many times from breakage.

    • Heather Fonseca November 7, 2013 at 8:54 am #

The great thing about the Bandolier is that if you drop it the neck strap will keep it from falling at all, but I know what you mean about having a protective case. I think it’s important too.

I love the innovative design of that I phone case! I have one that has a spot for cc, but NOT with straps! The only other thing that would make it perfect would be a clip for lipstick…xoxo

Hi Paula. I know what you mean. If the case was just a little bigger and could hold a lipstick and keys it would be just perfect!

  11. Sharon November 10, 2013 at 2:33 pm #

It is different. I like it but, since I carry quite a few other items when I am out and about I need to have a purse. If I have my purse, I really don’t need a phone carrier that is like a purse but not a purse because, I can’t hold all my other items in it. HAHA!

    • Heather Fonseca November 10, 2013 at 5:23 pm #

I definitely use both a purse and the bandolier. What I like about it is I can take photos easily without digging through my purse for my phone, but on most days I take off the strap (it’s removable!) and just put it in my purse.

Seems like a good idea for when you have quick things to do like when I walk my girls to school or when I go on a morning walk with my friend. I need a phone but not my whole bag.

    Thanks for sharing!

You’re welcome Stacey! I’m glad you liked the review. The Bandolier is GREAT for walking. I use it a lot for that, especially if I’m not jogging too.

Great idea but why for iPhones only? #teamandroid

    • Heather Fonseca December 25, 2013 at 1:20 pm #

LOL! I don’t know why iPhones only. Maybe they’ll make Android cases one day too.
