As a general rule the words chic and functional don’t usually go together, but the two words describe the Bandolier I-Phone case perfectly. I first laid eyes on this innovative carrying case at this fashion show, where I had the pleasure to sit next to the lovely Audrey Wu. Everyone at the event had their phones at the ready to photograph the models as they walked by on the catwalk, but while the rest of us rifled through our bags to get our various electronic devices Audrey only had to pick hers up from where it lay around at her hip. “Brilliant!” I thought. “Where do I get one?” I asked. As it turns out Audrey does PR for the company that makes the cases, and was happy to give me a Bandolier to use and review on my blog. (Ah, the perks of blogging!) I’ve been wearing my phone ever since.
The Bandolier I-Phone Case
The Bandolier is a hard plastic phone case that attaches to a removable leather strap. Each case features two slots to accommodate credit cards, driver’s license and/or cash. The idea is to liberate the wearer from the necessity of carrying a handbag. Personally I still carry my bag with me for things like car keys, lipstick and other necessities, but the Bandolier does make it possible to go out purse-free if you so desire.
It’s a great idea, but how well does it work? Check out the video to see this innovative I-Phone case in action.
My husband and I shot the video at and around LA City College. Music by Pipo Pegoraro. The song is Samambaia from the Album November Playlist.
A Little more about the Bandolier
Bandolier was launched in 2013 by partners Maggie Drake and Colleen Karis.
Maggie is a native of Seoul, South Korea and immigrated to the United States at age 9. Maggie’s background includes graphic and interior design as well as painting and fine art. Maggie recalls the moment of inspiration for Bandolier: “Colleen and I have travelled extensively with our families and whether we were on a ski lift, horseback, a hike or just shopping, we were constantly looking for a fashionable and functional way to carry our phones without the frustration of the frantic search through our bags. With that, Bandolier was born…. a chic phone case and cross body strap that creates an elegant luxury accessory which is practical and stylish.”
Colleen is a veteran of both the art world and the world of design. She is the founder and designer of Colleen Karis Designs, a collection of home décor for children carried in stores throughout the US, Canada and Europe. Her extensive travel throughout the world has instilled an innate sense of readiness reflected in Bandolier. Colleen’s vision for Bandolier is simple: “To show women that fashion can be functional without sacrificing elegance or expression. Bandolier serves a greater practical purpose than jewelry or other accessories, yet it can still make a bold and distinctive statement.”

In the video I wear my Bandolier I-Phone case with a new black silk blouse by Trouve, an arm full of bangles and my favorite red jeans that I also wore in the post British Red Skinny Jeans and Updating Red Jeans.
So what do you think of the Bandolier I-Phone Case? Would you wear one?
