Links a la Mode: The Independent Fashion Blogger Weekly Round Up

I am always excited to be picked for the IFB’s Links a la Mode. This week I’m joined by two of my blogging buddies: The Citizen Rosebud and Boheme Noir. Be sure to check them out if you have a chance.

WANTED: WARDROBE

Edited by: Sonia of In Pursuit of Style

Something about the change in weather that makes me want bright colors, fabulous new clothes and fancy new shoes. This happens every year, as excitement builds with peep toes, sleeveless tops and flowing skirts aplenty. I’ve been feeling uninspired lately, but this week’s blogger submissions have me excited again. We have some showing us how to make old things new again, trends in different iterations and best of all, at a great price! Maybe I can go out a buy that new wardrobe after all…

IFB’s Links A La Mode liked “Clothing Tells a Story”

A big thanks to Sonia of In Pursuit of Style and everyone at Independent Fashion Bloggers for choosing my post “Clothing Tells a Story” for this week’s Links a la Mode.

Change

Edited by: Sonia of In Pursuit of Style

Beyond just the change in temperatures, something key to this time of year is spring cleaning. Whether it be your closet, desk in your office or your body of toxins, its a great time to get rid of the old and be open to change. Make an effort this week, or this month, to add a little loose change into your life, be it changes to your fabulous blog, purchasing that sparkly skirt you’ve had your eye on and never thought you could wear or even adding some sassy leopard to you look!

Links a la Mode: The IFB weekly roundup likes my lipstick post

I guess I’m not the only one who likes lipstick! Thank you IFB for choosing my post on my three favorite, drug store brand, burgundy lipsticks. I’m joined by 19 other wonderful bloggers and their best posts. Here are a few that I really enjoyed reading.

Although I’m rather bored of hearing about the fashion industry being to blame for a whole host of ills I did enjoy this intelligent take on beauty standards in “What is fashion’s role in negative body image?”.  Another interesting post presents photos of “Real Rosies” for Women’s History Month.

My fashion favorites include one by my friend at 40+ Style: “How to update your wardrobe and wear the spring 2012 trends”. If you’re trying to figure out what item to buy to update your wardrobe for the coming months consider a bright pink blazer , and if that article didn’t give you enough ideas on how to wear one then check out  “Day to Night 2″ for more ideas on the subject.

Finally, as a doll designer I couldn’t help but smile at Prim and Probah’s “We are all Barbies“.

Fashionable Reading – Links a la Mode

This has been a really stellar week for me and my blog. Not only was my post “Three Glamorous Lipsticks (From the Drugstore!)” chosen to be part of this week’s Links a la Mode, but Bella posted a delightful article about me on The Citizen Rosebud.  If you haven’t seen it please check out Heather Fonseca: Doll Designer vs. Personal Style Blogger.

There are a number of talented individuals joining me on the Independent Fashion Bloggers line up of the best posts of the week, but one in particular has written a really inspirational post.  If you are a fashion blogger be sure to read Over 50 Feeling 40: “Beginning to Process how bloggers can make a difference for small businesses”.  The author makes a very good case for supporting unknown designers and small companies.  Yes, I do love Chanel, Gucci and Tom Ford, but it’s nice to see some other designers being featured on fashion blogs too. In December I always start thinking of goals for the new year.  One of them will definitely be writing about lesser known and local designers here on The Style Confessions.

I hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend.  Happy Christmas shopping!

Links For Your Holidays!

Edited by: Collette Osuna of Statements in Fashion

At the risk of sounding like a Christmas song, isn’t this the most wonderful time of the year?

I love hearing all the Holiday music playing in the stores! Trees are getting trimmed, gifts are being purchased, and people for the most part, haven’t forgotten the true meaning of the season. I’m taking some time over the next few weeks to re-vamp my closet, bake up some Holiday goodies, and make some new memories with my family and friends. However you may be spending the Holidays, be safe and keep the ones you love near to your heart.  I will see you in the New Year!
