Links a la Mode: The IFB weekly roundup likes my lipstick post

I guess I’m not the only one who likes lipstick! Thank you IFB for choosing my post on my three favorite, drug store brand, burgundy lipsticks. I’m joined by 19 other wonderful bloggers and their best posts. Here are a few that I really enjoyed reading.

Although I’m rather bored of hearing about the fashion industry being to blame for a whole host of ills I did enjoy this intelligent take on beauty standards in “What is fashion’s role in negative body image?”.  Another interesting post presents photos of “Real Rosies” for Women’s History Month.

My fashion favorites include one by my friend at 40+ Style: “How to update your wardrobe and wear the spring 2012 trends”. If you’re trying to figure out what item to buy to update your wardrobe for the coming months consider a bright pink blazer , and if that article didn’t give you enough ideas on how to wear one then check out  “Day to Night 2″ for more ideas on the subject.

Finally, as a doll designer I couldn’t help but smile at Prim and Probah’s “We are all Barbies“.

MAKING A CONNECTION

Edited by: Fajr Muhammad of Stylish Thought

Can you believe that it’s almost February. Fashion week is right around the corner and that means that the IFB Conference is right upon us. The IFB  Conference has opened so many doors and channels for fashion bloggers to connect and expand their *ahem* influence. Fashion week is another great avenue to network and work with brands, the media and other bloggers. In our fast-paced digital (and fashion) worlds, connection is key.

Check out this week’s Link a la Mode and connect with our 20 selected bloggers. Read their post, comment and build relationships that will last past fashion week and beyond.

Fashionable Reading – Links a la Mode

This has been a really stellar week for me and my blog. Not only was my post “Three Glamorous Lipsticks (From the Drugstore!)” chosen to be part of this week’s Links a la Mode, but Bella posted a delightful article about me on The Citizen Rosebud.  If you haven’t seen it please check out Heather Fonseca: Doll Designer vs. Personal Style Blogger.

There are a number of talented individuals joining me on the Independent Fashion Bloggers line up of the best posts of the week, but one in particular has written a really inspirational post.  If you are a fashion blogger be sure to read Over 50 Feeling 40: “Beginning to Process how bloggers can make a difference for small businesses”.  The author makes a very good case for supporting unknown designers and small companies.  Yes, I do love Chanel, Gucci and Tom Ford, but it’s nice to see some other designers being featured on fashion blogs too. In December I always start thinking of goals for the new year.  One of them will definitely be writing about lesser known and local designers here on The Style Confessions.

I hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend.  Happy Christmas shopping!

Links For Your Holidays!

Edited by: Collette Osuna of Statements in Fashion

At the risk of sounding like a Christmas song, isn’t this the most wonderful time of the year?

I love hearing all the Holiday music playing in the stores! Trees are getting trimmed, gifts are being purchased, and people for the most part, haven’t forgotten the true meaning of the season. I’m taking some time over the next few weeks to re-vamp my closet, bake up some Holiday goodies, and make some new memories with my family and friends. However you may be spending the Holidays, be safe and keep the ones you love near to your heart.  I will see you in the New Year!

Fashionable reading with IFB’s Links a la Mode

I am very happy to announce that my article on fashion during the recession has been chosen for this week’s links a la mode from Independent Fashion Bloggers. I’m joined by a number of talented bloggers who have written some great posts.  If you have some time check them out!

Fashion is Evolution was chosen for a fabulous “do it yourself” article on how to make your own book clutch. It’s filled with helpful step by step insrtuctions and beautiful photographs.  What’s a book clutch you ask?  Click here to find out!

Forever Amber writes about how totally crazy dress sizing has become in both the U.S and England in Size 0, my ass.

Did you know someone has developed a technique to permanently change brown eyes to blue? No, I didn’t either.  But you can read all about it at Oh to Be a Muse.

Well, those are my favorites.  Scroll down to see the other articles that made the cut.  Do you have any favorites from this week?

GETTING INTO THE SPIRIT

Edited by Taylor Davies

Thanksgiving is now officially behind us, so it’s time to start looking ahead to the coming holidays and all the fan-fair that comes along with them. From Black Friday shopping to holiday parties to festive DIY projects, there’s a lot of inspiration in this week’s Links a la Mode selections.

Along with all this inspiration, a few of our bloggers tackled some tough issues, from finding the balance between sexy and frumpy dressing in the workplace, vanity sizing, recession dressing and improving your blog posts. I thought these were important and critical to include for this week’s round up, because even as the holiday season gets into full swing, and we’re overcome with twinkling lights, festive parties and sequins galore – the same problems and difficulties we face the rest of the year will be here.
