Motorcycle jacketA few years ago Balmain sent models down the runway wearing studded, shredded, embellished versions of the iconic biker jacket. I’ve wanted one ever since. After turning down dozens for problems with fit or fabrication, I finally found one at the Gap that looked just right. Now that it’s finally cold enough to wear leather I find myself reaching for it almost every day. Color and Print Overload

Color Overload

I was exceptionally pleased with this outfit when I put it together. In my mind’s eye it seemed quite chic. The multicolored scarf looked beautiful with the bright teal knit blouse. The dark indigo cropped jeans set off the burgundy pumps nicely.  The blue jacket harmonized with the navy blue patent leather purse. Of course it should all go together! A quick check in the mirror confirmed my thoughts, and later that day my husband and I took a few minutes to photograph my newest fashion creation up in Griffith park. I couldn’t wait to see the resulting photos.

Later that day we looked through the images and I seriously wondered what was wrong with my fashion sense. The outfit was supposed to be a perfectly coordinated symphony of blues and greens highlighted with burgundy touches. Instead it was a cacophony of clashing elements. What went wrong? Personal Style, Real Life, and The Blog

Many positive changes have occurred since I started blogging about my personal style a little over a year ago. I have made new friends and connected with a community of people who are passionate about fashion. My husband and I are having a blast scouring the city for cool locations to shoot photos. I lost the baby weight that I carried around for 10 years and beautiful new clothes fill my closet. There are dozens of fashion, style and beauty blogs on my Google Reader list. My favorite posts feature photos of the blogger’s personal style, but I also enjoy lifestyle articles, recipes and beauty reviews. It’s so much fun seeing what my favorite authors are reading as well, so I’m always happy to come across “Best Articles of the Week” kind of posts with links to other websites. Normally I post my favorite articles to Twitter and if I have time I leave a little comment too, but for the last couple months I’ve wanted to do more.  It took The Citizen Rosebud’s amazing article on aging, fashion and Advanced Style to finally push me into creating a “Link Love” post here on The Style Confessions.
